Thiès : Le plan fou d'un futur marié pour financer ses noces avec de l'ecstasy
Young A. Kâ appeared this Wednesday before the Thiès court for flagrant offenses, charged with offering or supplying narcotics. The case, unusual to say the least, links a marriage proposal to a synthetic drug trafficking operation.
The defendant was arrested on the eve of his wedding, in possession of 20 ecstasy tablets. During the preliminary investigation, A. Kâ made a detailed confession. He stated that he intended to go to Diass to sell the drugs in order to finance his wedding, which was scheduled for Saturday, April 25, 2026. He also specified that he had acquired the drugs from a certain Sidy Diop, based in Dakar.
However, in court, the groom-to-be attempted a complete about-face, contesting his initial statements. He maintained that he had bought the pills for 1,500 FCFA each for his own personal use on the day of the festivities, thus denying any intention of reselling them. This new line of defense failed to convince the prosecution.
The public prosecutor determined that the facts of the offer or transfer were consistent and clearly evident from the case file. Taking into account the seriousness of the offenses and the nature of the seized goods, he requested a two-year prison sentence for A. Kâ. The court adjourned the case for deliberation and will deliver its verdict shortly.
