Tivaouane-Peulh : un dealer escalade un mur pour échapper aux gendarmes, mais tombe dans leurs filets

In the night of May 27-28, 2026, around one o'clock in the morning, the Tivaouane-Peulh gendarmerie arrested O.BA, alias "Ousso", a repeat offender well known to the security services, in the middle of trafficking Indian hemp.

It all started with an anonymous tip sent to the police by prominent figures and officials in the town. They raised the alarm about the return of O.BA's activities, whose intense cannabis trafficking was disturbing the peace of the neighborhood, particularly in the context of the eve of the Tabaski festival.

According to the testimonies gathered, the accused had set up a well-oiled system to operate discreetly. He made trips back and forth between a hideout, where he kept most of his stock, and the livestock market commonly known as "Bayal ba", from which he sold raw Indian hemp in cones, mainly to a clientele of young delinquents.

Armed with the descriptive report provided by the sources, the gendarmerie's team was immediately deployed. Investigators quickly identified an individual exhibiting suspicious behavior, matching the provided profile perfectly.

Sensing the presence of law enforcement, O. BA attempted to flee by climbing a wall to escape surveillance. However, he was unaware that a cordon had been established upstream. He was apprehended without being able to go any further.

The body search immediately conducted was conclusive: three packets of raw Indian hemp were discovered on him, as well as 181,500 CFA francs, representing the proceeds of his sales. The seized cannabis was in its raw form, green in color, and unmixed with tobacco.

With his identity formally established and his rights duly notified, O. BA is taken to the local police station in Tivaouane-Peulh to be questioned.

When questioned, the suspect admitted to being found in possession of Indian hemp, but categorically refused to reveal the location of his stash and to cooperate on the true extent of his trafficking.

Brought before Prosecutor Cheikh Diakhoumpa, head of the Rufisque prosecutor's office, on Friday, May 29, 2026, O.BA was placed under a detention order.
