Trafic de drogue sur la transgambienne : La SR de Kaolack frappe dans deux réseaux
Acting on anonymous tips, the Kaolack research unit conducted two separate operations on the Trans-Gambia Highway. Two traffickers were arrested and 12 kg of cannabis were seized, according to Seneweb sources.
First operation: a security guard caught red-handed
Having received information about an international cannabis trafficking operation on the Trans-Gambia Highway, the SR (Special Research Unit) deployed a surveillance team in the Touba Sanokho area. During the night, around midnight, investigators intercepted ML Diallo on his motorcycle. He was carrying 10 kg of cannabis concealed in a bag.
When questioned, he admitted to the acts and stated that he had been commissioned by K. Faty, a Gambian national based in Bakiding, to deliver the merchandise to a client, in exchange for a payment of 80,000 CFA francs to be collected upon delivery. He also specified that this was not his first delivery for this network.
Investigators concluded that K. Faty had set up a veritable international trafficking network, using local couriers to distribute his merchandise in Senegal.
ML Diallo was brought before Prosecutor Abass Yaya Wane, head of the Kaolack prosecutor's office, for criminal association and international trafficking of Indian hemp.
Second operation: a notorious trafficker apprehended in Pakathiar
In the second operation, the SR received information indicating the presence of S. Badiane, described by the local population as a notorious drug trafficker, in the village of Pakathiar, not far from the Gambian border. Thanks to a skillfully executed operation, he was apprehended in possession of 2 kg of cannabis. A search of his home yielded nothing.
When questioned by investigators, S. Badiane attempted to exonerate himself by claiming that the product belonged to a certain M. Fall, who had given him the drugs as repayment of a debt of 60,000 CFA francs.
Investigators deemed his version of events implausible, noting his inability to provide the address of the alleged owner. He was brought before Prosecutor Abass Yaya Wane on April 27th on charges of trafficking in Indian hemp.
