Trafic de drogues à Karang: 1 590 comprimés d’ecstasy interceptés, cachés dans une prothèse de jambe
A macabre scheme foiled. In the night of July 12, 2026, around 2 a.m., the Karang customs commercial brigade seized 1,590 ecstasy pills hidden in a traveler's prosthetic leg.
The operation took place at a checkpoint in the Fatick subdivision, under the regional directorate of the Centre. The suspect, a person with a motor disability, was travelling in a public transport vehicle from a neighbouring country.
It was the vigilance of the officers that uncovered this unprecedented method of concealment. The drugs, packaged and carefully hidden inside the prosthesis, were designed to evade detection.
"This unusual modus operandi demonstrates the determination of criminal organizations to maintain illicit trafficking in all its forms. But this was without taking into account the vigilance of customs officers," the Senegalese customs service emphasized on its Facebook page.
The suspect has been taken into custody. He will be brought before the Fatick High Court in the coming hours to answer for his actions.
Customs reaffirms its determination to crack down on all forms of fraud, however unexpected they may be.
