Wakhinane-Nimzatt : le récit d'une rixe sanglante entre charretiers
A violent altercation broke out late Tuesday afternoon on the Wakhinane-Nimzatt waterfront in Guédiawaye, between two young cart drivers, Nd. M. Faye (24 years old) and F. Dione (17 years old). The confrontation quickly escalated into a knife fight, leaving both men seriously injured, with Faye's condition critical, according to L'Observateur.
According to initial findings of the investigation, a climate of mistrust had developed between the two men, fueled by a third party named Daouda. Daouda, who had recently had a violent argument with the minor F. Dione, allegedly told Faye that the teenager had been making death threats against him. This climate of mistrust ultimately led to the bloody confrontation, according to the daily newspaper of the Futurs Médias Group (GFM).
The newspaper reports that miner F. Dione initiated the hostilities by stabbing his opponent in the neck. Despite suffering massive blood loss, Nd. M. Faye retaliated, seriously wounding Dione in the arm and leg before collapsing.
Police surveillance at the bedside of the injured
Alerted by local residents, police officers from the Wakhinane-Nimzatt station quickly intervened. Faye was evacuated in critical condition to the Idrissa Pouye Hospital in Grand-Yoff, while Dione, already known to the police for purse snatching, was admitted under observation to the Dalal Jamm Hospital.
Given the seriousness of the incident and the risk of reprisals, police surveillance has been increased around the two injured men in their respective hospitals. The investigation is ongoing to determine the exact responsibilities in this brawl that nearly cost the two young men their lives, according to the Gfm news report.
