L’État généralise l’indemnité de logement à tous les agents publics non bénéficiaires
Good news for civil servants. Their demands for improved living conditions have just been met. A draft decree granting a housing allowance to public employees previously excluded from this benefit has been adopted.
This measure is part of the implementation of the State's commitments within the framework of the National Pact for Social Stability for Inclusive and Sustainable Growth, which aims to strengthen equity and social justice within the public administration.
Until now, the housing allowance had been extended to certain categories of employees, particularly in the education and health sectors. However, this sectoral extension had left approximately 7% of state employees, both civil servants and non-civil servants, out, creating inequality in the compensation system.
The new decree thus provides for the generalization of the housing allowance to all state employees who are not housed and not governed by specific statutory provisions already providing for this benefit.
The amount of the allowance is set at 100,000 CFA francs per month, net of taxes, and will be paid regularly to the beneficiaries.
According to the authorities, this reform aims to improve the purchasing power of the agents concerned, to strengthen social cohesion within the administration and to guarantee fairer treatment between the different branches of the civil service.
The Minister of Finance and Budget is responsible for the execution of the decree, which will be published in the Official Journal, thus marking its entry into force.
