Réception technique du stade Iba Mar Diop et de la piscine olympique : Dakar se prépare activement pour les JOJ
The Minister of Infrastructure and Land and Air Transport, Déthié Fall, accompanied by the Minister of Sports, carried out the technical reception of the Stade Iba Mar Diop stadium and the National Olympic Swimming Pool, two major infrastructures included in the hosting arrangements for the Dakar 2026 Youth Olympic Games (YOG).
This important step marks a significant advance in Senegal's preparations for this historic international sporting event, which will make Dakar the first African city to host the Youth Olympic Games.
During this technical handover visit, the authorities were able to observe the progress of the work, the quality of the installed equipment, and the conformity of the infrastructure to the international standards required for a competition of this scale. The fully renovated Iba Mar Diop Stadium now offers a modern and functional setting designed to host several sporting disciplines as well as activities related to the Youth Olympic Games.
For its part, the Olympic swimming pool stands out with its state-of-the-art facilities that meet international standards. It will not only host swimming competitions during the Games, but will also contribute sustainably to the development of aquatic sports in Senegal.
Through these achievements, the State of Senegal confirms its commitment to making the Dakar 2026 Youth Olympic Games an organizational, sporting, and cultural success. These infrastructures also reflect the authorities' ambition to leave a lasting legacy for Senegalese youth and the national sports movement.
Minister Déthié Fall praised the work done by all the technical teams and companies involved in the project, while reaffirming the government's commitment to delivering modern, secure infrastructure that meets international standards.
With the technical handover of the Stade Iba Mar Diop and the National Olympic Swimming Pool, Dakar takes another step in its preparation and clearly demonstrates its ambition to offer the world memorable Youth Olympic Games.
