Insolite à Grand-Yoff : un voleur échappe temporairement à son audition... à cause de l'alcool

A 32-year-old plumber was arrested for a nighttime burglary in Arafat, but his hearing had to be postponed due to his advanced state of intoxication. A rather unusual scene unfolded at the Grand-Yoff district police station, according to Seneweb sources.

It's a case that could have been trivial if it hadn't ended in such a comical manner. Mr. War, 32, a plumber by profession, was arrested last Saturday for a burglary committed during the night of September 27 to 28, 2025, at the home of Mrs. G. Thiaw, in Arafat.

A daring burglary in the middle of the night

According to the complainant, interviewed by investigators at the Grand-Yoff police station, the perpetrator of the theft climbed onto her balcony before bursting into her living room. The loot was substantial: a flat-screen TV, four cell phones, and two bags belonging to members of her family.

Early in the morning, upon discovering the crime, the victim conducted his own neighborhood investigation. It was a local shopkeeper who provided him with the first decisive piece of information: he reportedly saw, around 3 a.m., a man named Mr. War casually walking along the street with a flat screen TV under his arm.

Quick arrest thanks to intelligence

The use of this information enabled law enforcement to act quickly. The suspect was located and arrested in the Darou district, along with some of the loot in his possession.

But it was during his hearing that the case took an unexpected turn.

Too drunk to answer questions

Presented to the investigators to be questioned on the facts with which he is accused, Mr. War was in such an advanced state of intoxication that he was unable to respond to the initial questions of the police.

Faced with this incredible situation, the investigators had no choice but to postpone the hearing of the accused, until he regained his senses and was able to express himself coherently.

The 32-year-old plumber, who lives in Arafat, will therefore have to wait until he sobers up before explaining this nighttime burglary involving climbing the wall and fence.
