Authorities reportedly discovered cocaine worth an estimated $8.4 million hidden in a shipment linked to a popular underwear brand owned by reality TV star and businesswoman Kim Kardashian.

Jakub Jan Konkel, 40, was sentenced on Monday to 13 years and six months in prison for concealing a large quantity of drugs in his truck carrying 28 pallets of Skims clothing from the Netherlands, according to the National Crime Agency.

Konkel, originally from northern Poland, was arrested by border force officers at the port of Harwich, Essex, England, when he arrived by ferry with his truck full of shapewear for celebrities last September, the agency said.

After X-raying his vehicle, investigators discovered that the truck driver had stopped en route to load 90 packages of cocaine, weighing a total of 90 kg. He had then concealed the packaged goods in a specially designed compartment in the truck's rear doors.

The street value of the cocaine was estimated at approximately $8.4 million, the investigators determined.

The shipment of Skims was legitimate, and neither the exporter nor the importer of the clothing was linked to the smuggling operation, authorities added.

Konkel initially denied knowing anything about the cocaine cache, but eventually admitted to agreeing to smuggle the drugs for 4,500 euros, or about 5,276 dollars.

“These drugs destroy lives and plunge our communities into misery,” said Jason Thorn, deputy director of border forces, in a statement.

"This significant interception is a testament to the remarkable work of the border forces, who have deprived criminal networks of millions in profits," he added.

"We continue to work tirelessly to fight crime, protect our borders, and prevent these dangerous drugs from circulating on our streets."
