Choupette, la chatte héritière de Karl Lagerfeld au cœur d’une controverse financière
Choupette, the cat of the famous fashion designer Karl Lagerfeld, has still not received the $1.5 million that her owner bequeathed to her before his death in 2019. The reason is simple: in France, the law does not recognize the right of animals to inherit directly.
The famous blue-eyed Sacred Birman cat now lives with Lagerfeld's former housekeeper. She has taken it upon herself to honor the designer's traditions and provide the cat with the exceptional life he envisioned for her.
Because Choupette is much more than a pet. A true icon of the fashion world, she has been elevated to the status of muse. She has inspired collections, posed as a model, crisscrossed the skies in a private jet, and amassed millions of dollars in contracts. From Chanel to television studios, and parties with the biggest celebrities, she has embodied pure luxury.
As a reminder, the man had bequeathed his fortune to his assistant Sébastien Jondeau, his godson Hudson Kroenig, the two models Brad Kroenig and Baptiste Giabiconi, and his cat Choupette for her care.
Today, his financial legacy remains suspended within the limits of the law.
