The fire broke out around 1:00 PM (5:00 AM in Paris) while 170 workers were inside the industrial site. The exact circumstances of the fire remain unknown at this time.
Presence of explosive materials
Emergency services encountered difficulties in responding quickly due to a risk of building collapse, which delayed firefighters' access to certain areas of the factory.

The facility also contained approximately 200 kilograms of sodium, a potentially explosive substance if mishandled, according to Yonhap. South Korean President Lee Jae-myung ordered the mobilization of all available personnel and equipment for the rescue operation.
