Des agents fédéraux tirent sur un homme armé à proximité de la Maison Blanche
The incident occurred near the National Mall, a tourist attraction in the American capital located a stone's throw from the White House, shortly after the passage of Vice President JD Vance's motorcade, announced Matthew Quinn, deputy director of the Secret Service, in charge of the security of high-ranking American officials.
However, he does not believe the vice president was targeted, and told the press he could not say if it was related to the recent assassination attempt against Donald Trump.
"I'm not going to speculate on that," he cautioned. "Whether it was directed against the president or not, I don't know, but we will find out the reason," he said.
The Secret Service shot an individual who appeared "suspicious" and armed.
The man fled on foot after being approached by officers and opened fire, Matthew Quinn explained.
Authorities then opened fire, wounding the man, who was taken to the hospital. His condition is not yet known.
A minor was injured during the incident, which comes about ten days after a man tried to break into a hotel room where Donald Trump was attending a press gala.
Cole Allen, 31, has been charged with attempting to assassinate the US president.
