Millions on the table: a Chinese boss surprises his staff with an extraordinary bonus

Des millions sur la table: un patron chinois surprend son personnel avec une prime hors norme

The award for best boss in the world likely goes to a Chinese business leader who surprised his employees by distributing nearly €24 million during the end-of-year party. Staff members were allowed to take as much cash as they could. According to several media outlets, one employee went home with the equivalent of approximately €11,000.

In early February, Henan Kuangshan held a celebration that attendees will long remember. Usually, employees leave the event with a traditional gift, such as a household appliance. This year, its founder, Cui Peijun, opted for a bolder approach, replacing the usual gifts with wads of cash.

24 million euros on the table

For its approximately 7,000 employees, the equivalent of nearly 24 million euros was laid out on a huge table in the form of bundles of banknotes, reports the Daily Mail. The principle was simple: each person could leave with whatever amount they managed to lift and carry themselves.

Cui Peijun insists that this was not a publicity stunt, but a carefully considered approach. “Young people are facing car loans and mortgages. Any help we can give them is valuable,” he said, thus justifying this unusual initiative.

The boss who prefers to distribute the money

This is not the first time the company has generously rewarded its employees. Henan Kuangshan, specializing in the production and maintenance of cranes and operating in more than 130 countries, regularly converts the fruits of its international success into benefits for its staff. In 2024, the company recorded a net profit of 260 million yuan (€33.5 million), of which no less than 170 million yuan (€21.9 million) was redistributed to employees.

The company's generosity doesn't stop at the end-of-year celebrations. Last March, on the occasion of International Women's Day, Henan Kuangshan once again reached into its pockets: nearly 2,000 female employees shared some 1.6 million yuan, or about 206,000 euros in bonuses.

On social media, Cui Peijun has acquired a nickname that has stuck with him: “the boss who prefers to hand out money.” A reputation that, in light of the facts, seems anything but exaggerated.
