Emails et photos du dossier Epstein accablent à nouveau l'ex-prince Andrew

A photo showing him on all fours over a woman, an invitation to Buckingham Palace: new documents about American sex criminal Jeffrey Epstein further incriminate disgraced Prince Andrew, brother of King Charles III.

Emails and photos contained in the millions of pages released Friday by the US Department of Justice again refer to Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor, 65, who fell from grace for his friendship with the American financier, who committed suicide in prison in 2019.

Their relationship led to Andrew, who was accused of sexual assault and has always maintained his innocence, being stripped of all his royal titles in October and ordered to move out of his luxurious Royal Lodge residence in Windsor.

These documents include three undated photographs of the former prince on all fours above a woman lying on the ground. He is looking directly at the camera in one of the photos, and in the other two, he places his hand on the woman's abdomen. The woman is fully clothed, and her face has been masked by US authorities.

It also includes an exchange of emails from August 11 and 12, 2010, about two years after Epstein's criminal conviction for using underage prostitutes, in which he offers to introduce a Russian woman in her twenties to "A".

"A friend you might like to have dinner with" is to be in London from August 20 to 24, he tells a certain "Duke".

The ex-prince replied that he would be in Geneva on August 22, but that he would be "delighted to see her," asking Epstein to pass on his contact to this woman, and demanding more details.

The financier replied that she was a 26-year-old Russian woman, "intelligent, beautiful, and trustworthy." However, there is no evidence to confirm that this meeting actually took place.

"In private"

The publication in October of Virginia Giuffre's posthumous memoirs, in which she accuses Andrew of sexually assaulting her on several occasions when she was a minor, sparked a wave of outrage in the UK, where the ex-prince had not held any public role since 2019.

His downfall was also precipitated by revelations in the press, which unearthed exchanges with the American financier after December 2010, the date on which Andrew claimed to have ended their friendship.

His ex-wife, Sarah Ferguson, was also implicated for her ties to Epstein. In an email published Friday, dated August 2009, she told the billionaire that he was "the brother she always dreamed of having."

These new documents also reveal that Andrew had invited Epstein to Buckingham Palace in September 2010. The financier's house arrest, who was sentenced to one year in prison, had just been lifted in August.

Epstein, who was visiting London, contacted Andrew on September 27, telling him: "We will need to spend some time in private."

To which the prince replied: "We could have dinner at Buckingham Palace and have plenty of private time." Two days later, he added: "I'm delighted you're coming here to BP (Buckingham Palace). Bring whomever you like; I'll be available from about 4 PM to 8 PM."

Here too, there is no evidence that the meeting took place.

According to other emails, Jeffrey Epstein transferred 10,000 pounds (11,500 euros) in 2009 to the partner of Peter Mandelson, a prominent figure in the British Labour Party who was dismissed as the UK's ambassador to the United States last year for his links with Epstein.

Reinaldo Avila da Silva, who is now Mandelson's husband, allegedly received this sum to pay for medical expenses, among other things.

This exchange took place when Mandelson was Minister of Commerce, and also after the financier's conviction in Miami.

In 2022, a lawsuit brought by Virginia Giuffre against Andrew resulted in a multi-million pound out-of-court settlement, without him admitting guilt.

Ms. Giuffre committed suicide last April at her home in Australia.
