Espagne : Deux fillettes hospitalisées après une séance chez le même dentiste, l’une décède

An investigation is underway following the death of a six-year-old child and the hospitalization in critical condition of another young girl after visits to a dentist in Alcira (Spain) on November 20th.

Two young girls, aged four and six, were taken to the emergency room of a hospital in Alcira, Spain, on November 20th. The younger girl was lethargic, feverish, and nauseous. The older girl was in cardiorespiratory arrest when she arrived at the hospital, where doctors officially pronounced her dead, according to the local news outlet 20 Minutos.

The same day, the same dental practice

The first patient is in serious condition and has been transferred to the intensive care unit. Both girls had been treated earlier in the day at a dental clinic in the city. The clinic has suspended operations pending the completion of the ongoing investigation. The clinic owner stated that the deceased child had no health problems when she left the premises.

She also specified that investigators were particularly interested in "a defective batch of anesthetic." El Caso reports, however, that the clinic was not authorized to administer this type of product intravenously. The clinic's director explained that the deceased victim had undergone a baby tooth extraction and fillings, procedures for which a sedative had been used to "relax" the child.
