The Grand Mosque of Paris has announced the conclusion date of Ramadan. This declaration follows the traditional "Night of Doubt," during which Muslim authorities observed the crescent moon after sunset. This year's Ramadan began on February 18.

The date for Eid al-Fitr is now confirmed. The Grand Mosque of Paris officially revealed on Wednesday that the celebration marking the end of Ramadan 2026 will be held on Friday, March 20.

"The joint religious commission announces that the new moon was not visible. Therefore, Eid al-Fitr will be observed on Friday, March 20, 2026," stated the Muslim institution in a release published after the Night of Doubt.

On Wednesday, the Grand Mosque of Paris observed the crescent moon after sunset. Had it been visible, the fasting month would have ended the following day, Thursday, March 19. Since the moon was not sighted, Ramadan will conclude one day later. This practice, known as Laylat al-Chak (Night of Doubt), remains central to the Islamic calendar, which runs approximately eleven days shorter than the Gregorian calendar each year.
