France: une station-service sur cinq en rupture de stock sur un ou plusieurs carburants
Nearly one in five service stations is experiencing a shortage of one or more fuels after the extended Easter weekend in France, where Monday is also a public holiday, Energy Minister Maud Bregeon announced Tuesday morning.
"There are about 18% of stations where at least one fuel is missing," the junior minister, who is also the government spokesperson, told RMC/BFMTV radio.
"These difficulties are due to logistical and transport problems," she added, particularly in the stations of the French oil company TotalEnergies' network, which has capped fuel prices, resulting in increased demand at its stations.
"83% of the stations where there are difficulties are stations in the TotalEnergies network," the minister continued.
Since the start of the war in the Middle East, the oil and gas giant has capped the price of gasoline at €1.99 per liter and the price of diesel at €2.09 per liter at its 3,300 service stations in mainland France. This measure was planned by the distributor until this Tuesday.
In other stations, the rate of stockouts of at least one fuel is only about 4%, assured Maud Bregeon.
