"Gagner la guerre en Iran" : Le message de défi de Donald Trump juste après son évacuation
Donald Trump asserted on Saturday night that the gunshots fired during the press gala in Washington would not make him renounce the war against Iran, even though he believes the incident is unrelated to the current international crisis.
“This is not going to make me give up on winning the war in Iran,” the US president told reporters just hours after the shooting at the White House Correspondents’ Association dinner, from which he was urgently evacuated from the stage. “I don’t know if it had anything to do with that, I really don’t think so, based on what we know,” he added, attempting to temper speculation.
Just minutes earlier, he had replied "you never know" when asked if he thought the shootings were linked to the conflict with Tehran, which he and Israel launched on February 28. The president specified that investigators were actively working on the motives of the suspected shooter. The latter, who has been arrested, was described as a "lone wolf" by the White House occupant.
In a sign of the ongoing tension, Donald Trump canceled on Saturday the trip his envoys were scheduled to make to Pakistan, hoping to meet with representatives from Tehran to negotiate a solution to the conflict. This decision marks a hardening of the American position as the entire world watches Washington.
