Guerre au Liban : La triste histoire d’un "petit garçon musulman" racontée par le pape Léon XIV
During his trip to Lebanon in late 2025, Pope Leo XIV met a young Muslim boy holding a sign welcoming him. At a press conference held on the plane returning him from Malabo to Rome yesterday, Thursday, the pontiff revealed that the child had lost his life in the Lebanese war.
"I have with me a photo of a little Muslim boy who, during my visit to Lebanon, was waiting with a sign that read 'Welcome to our home, Pope Leo.' During one of the last phases of the war, he was killed in turn," said the successor of Saint Peter.
"As a Church, I repeat, as a pastor, I cannot be in favor of war."
This story is deliberately recounted by Pope Leo XIV to show how war destroys young and innocent lives. "As a Church, I repeat, as a pastor, I cannot be in favor of war and I would like to encourage all those who are striving to find answers from a culture of peace and not of hatred and division," the Bishop of Rome emphasized.
