Guerre au Moyen-Orient: au moins 25 frappes contre des sites américains (analyse AFP)
At least 25 Iranian attacks have targeted American sites or sites with American military personnel in the Middle East since the start of the conflict, according to a count and analysis of strikes carried out by AFP.
Among these attacks, counted between February 28 and March 11 at 3 p.m. GMT, four strikes were directed against American embassies or consulates in Saudi Arabia, Kuwait and Iraq.
The other 21 strikes by Iranian missiles or drones targeted 13 different military sites housing American personnel.
These include Prince Sultan Air Base in Saudi Arabia and the site of Erbil Airport in Iraq, which houses a US base, attacked at least four times, and Al-Udeid Air Base in Qatar and Al Dhafra Air Base in the United Arab Emirates, each targeted at least twice.
This count does not include seven attacks observed or claimed by Iran against US THAAD radars and/or missile defense systems, operated either by the United States or by Gulf states, systems generally located near bases targeted by Iran.
AFP was able to verify and confirm damage after twelve strikes targeting US-linked military sites, by analyzing satellite images, the most recent dating from March 5, before US providers of high-resolution imagery imposed restrictions on their customers to protect US allies.
Meanwhile, according to the same AFP database, nearly 30 attacks targeted energy infrastructure in the Middle East between the start of the conflict and March 11, more than half of which were carried out by Tehran.
AFP counted some 16 Iranian strikes in seven different Gulf countries that targeted oil and gas fields or complexes.
Among the sites targeted is the industrial zone in the United Arab Emirates where the Ruwais refinery, one of the largest in the world, is located, which was closed on Tuesday as a precaution.
