« Je suis dans une seule relation avec trois personnes » : le chanteur Ne-Yo, en couple avec trois femmes, détaille sa vie polyamoureuse
During his appearance on a talk show this Wednesday, the American artist detailed his polyamorous lifestyle.
“After my divorce, I made the decision to stop lying to my wife,” Ne-Yo declared. The American singer, a guest on the show “Sherri” which aired on Wednesday, January 14th, discussed his unconventional lifestyle. To keep his promise and be more honest in his relationships, he decided to embrace his polyamorous status.
The singer of "Let Me Love You" is currently in relationships with three women, Arielle Hill, Cristina, and Moneii, since his "highly publicized and very contentious" divorce. He also had a fourth partner, Brionna, for a time.
In August 2022, his then-wife, Crystal Renay, filed for divorce, claiming he had fathered a child with another woman. Their divorce was finalized in February 2023. The producer has three children with Crystal Renay: Shaffer Chimere Jr., 9, Roman Alexander-Raj, 6, and Isabella Rose, 4, and four children from two other relationships. "I take full responsibility for my part in this marriage. I take full responsibility," Ne-Yo acknowledged. "And I have decided never again to be the cause of anyone's suffering," he added.
The artist then explained that one of his three current partners had been with him longer than the others when he first suggested the idea of a polyamorous relationship. “I told her, ‘ Look, you know I care about you. You know I love you, but I have to be honest. There’s more to life than you. I’d like you to meet these other women, and if we find a way to do something together, great. If not, that’s okay too, ’” he recounted. Ne-Yo clarified that he left it up to each person involved to decide whether they wanted to continue the relationship or not. “Everyone chose to stay,” the singer summarized.
“The important thing is that I’m not in three relationships. I’m in one relationship with three people,” he insisted. “We always find solutions to make everything work,” he continued, specifying that each of his partners “has the right to her own time,” even though “time spent together is just as important.” He also confided that for holidays like Valentine’s Day, he can’t give classic gifts like red roses to all of them: “There are three women, three personalities. (…) I have to make sure I have a gift that suits their personality. (…) We all decide together where we go. We go to the same restaurant or the same concert, everyone gets their own gift, and everyone is happy.”
Faced with the curiosity of the host, Sherri Shepherd, who felt that polyamory "required more work", Ne-Yo joked: "I've never been afraid of work. Never."
However, Ne-Yo explained that none of his girlfriends were allowed to date other people. "I never asked any of these women for exclusivity," he clarified, adding, "They said they wanted to be with me, they gave me their exclusivity."
