La banque refuse de lui remettre l’argent de sa sœur sans certificat de décès, un Indien exhume son corps et l’amène dans l’établissement
When his bank refused to release the money from his sister's account without a death certificate, a man in a rural area of India exhumed his relative's remains to prove her death.
The bank described the event as "extremely distressing," highlighting the administrative difficulties faced in remote areas. Jitu Munda, a man from a tribe in the Indian state of Odisha, exhumed the remains of his deceased sister to present them at an Indian Overseas Bank branch, which demanded a death certificate he was unable to produce.
Earlier, he had tried to withdraw money from his deceased sister's account, but was told that "withdrawals by a third party are not permitted without proper authorization," according to a bank statement. Enraged, the man returned with "the human remains of his sister, who had been buried a few days earlier."
Images broadcast by Indian television channels show him carrying what appears to be a human corpse on one shoulder, partially wrapped in a plastic bag.
"This has created an extremely distressing situation for local residents," the bank said, adding that the incident resulted from "a lack of awareness" and the individual's reluctance to follow procedures.
