The mother had two chest injuries, one head injury and the last one to her arm, according to a fire department report.

The 37-year-old American mother killed last week in Minneapolis by an immigration officer had four gunshot wounds when emergency services arrived, according to a fire department report cited by several US media outlets.

According to the report, obtained by the Minnesota Star Tribune, Renee Good was found with two chest wounds, one arm wound, and one head wound. Paramedics found her unconscious in her car, with blood on her face and torso. She was not breathing, and her pulse was "incoherent" and "irregular," according to the report cited by the local newspaper.

She had two gunshot wounds to her right chest, one to her left forearm, and one to the left side of her head, the report details. Blood was flowing from her left ear, and her pupils were dilated, the report further states. Firefighters attempted unsuccessfully to resuscitate the victim at the scene and then in the ambulance transporting her to the hospital, where she was pronounced dead.

According to transcripts of the emergency call, excerpts of which were published by several media outlets, a 911 caller told operators, "There are 15 ICE (Immigration and Customs Enforcement) officers. They shot her because she wouldn't open her car door." "Please send an ambulance, please send an ambulance," another person told 911.

The Trump administration maintains that the officer who fired the shot acted in self-defense. So far, the officer involved has not faced any charges or suspension.

Majority of Americans against the official version

A majority of Americans believe the death of this mother was unjustified, according to several polls. These surveys, published Thursday on the ABC News website, indicate that Americans largely disagree with the Trump administration's explanation that the police officer who shot Renee Good acted in self-defense.

A Quinnipiac University poll shows that 53% of registered American voters believe that Renee Good's death was unjustified, 35% believe it was, while 12% of those surveyed did not express an opinion.

Another CNN poll revealed that a majority of 56% of Americans believe that the use of a weapon against Renee Good was an inappropriate use of force, compared to only 26% who considered it appropriate.

ICE makes cities less safe

This poll also indicated that 51% of Americans believe that ICE actions make cities less safe, while 31% think they make them safer and 18% think these operations have little effect on safety.

More Americans in the CNN poll said they were concerned about the crackdown on those protesting migrant deportations (47%) rather than the protests getting out of control (37%).

Americans also have little confidence in the federal government's ability to conduct an impartial and thorough investigation into Renee Good's death. Sixty-two percent of those surveyed by CNN said they have little or no confidence – with nearly half (47%) saying they have no confidence at all.

The Quinnipiac poll indicates that 57% of voters disapprove of the way ICE enforces immigration laws, while 40% approve.

According to CNN, 58% of Americans criticize Trump's handling of immigration, while 42% approve of it.
