L'eurodéputée Rima Hassan sort de garde à vue et sera jugée pour apologie du terrorisme

Placed in police custody on Thursday, LFI MEP Rima Hassan was released late in the evening, and will be tried on July 7 for "apology for terrorism", for one of her posts on X.

Summoned that same morning, the Franco-Palestinian MEP presented herself to the judicial police, to be placed in custody, the Paris prosecutor's office reported.

"This placement in police custody is possible, without the need to lift parliamentary immunity, within the framework of the investigation of flagrant offenses," he specified.

The justice system accuses the 33-year-old European parliamentarian of a publication on March 26, 2026 on her X account, which referred to Kōzō Okamoto.

He is the only survivor among the three perpetrators of the massacre carried out on May 30, 1972 in the name of the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine (PFLP) at the Israeli airport of Lod-Tel Aviv, which left 26 dead, including one Canadian, eight Israelis and 17 American citizens from Puerto Rico.

Accompanied by flags of Japan and Palestine, Rima Hassan's tweet quoted her as saying: "Kozo Okamoto: I dedicated my youth to the Palestinian cause. As long as there is oppression, resistance will not only be a right, but a duty."

It also republished a text in English about Kōzō Okamoto, "recalling that he had taken part in this attack and a photo in which he was being carried on the shoulders of men dressed in fatigues and keffiyehs," the prosecutor's office said.

The publication had been reported to the public prosecutor's office by the Minister of the Interior, then by the European Jewish Organization (EJO) and the Licra.

"No comment today, we will hold a press conference tomorrow," Rima Hassan told reporters Thursday evening after being released from police custody, during which "people were very polite and professional."

Six other procedures

The MEP then wrote on X that "based on illegal leaks, I have had to endure accusations of possessing several drugs. These accusations are totally false," she thundered, specifying that only the presence of CBD had been found, "which is perfectly legal."

A source close to the case had indicated that a small quantity of synthetic drugs had been found in the MEP's bag.

"A search of Rima Hassan's belongings revealed the presence of substances resembling CBD and 3MMC (a synthetic drug), about which she was questioned," the prosecutor's office stated after her detention. "These items are separate and will be the subject of a separate investigation."

The detention of Rima Hassan has sparked outrage within the ranks of La France Insoumise. Jean-Luc Mélenchon denounced a "political police force," while Manon Aubry, another MEP from the movement, condemned "judicial harassment."

Rima Hassan is implicated in six other proceedings, which the prosecutor's office does not wish to comment on because they are "still ongoing".

Thirteen other procedures carried out by the national unit for combating online hate were closed without further action "after investigation of the contexts in which the disputed remarks were made, hearing of the person concerned or joining of her explanations provided in the context of other similar procedures, and analysis of all these elements".

Most of them concerned tweets or other comments, reported by the OJE, other organizations or members of parliament.

A leading figure in the Palestinian cause, Rima Hassan does not hide her very radical positions on the State of Israel, which she describes as "terrorist", and multiplies her controversial messages.

She had been brought to the forefront by LFI at the time of the 2024 European elections, where sending her to Brussels had become one of the main campaign arguments of the Insoumis.

She also made headlines by twice boarding boats bound for the Gaza Strip to protest a humanitarian blockade. She was temporarily detained by Israeli forces after the vessel was intercepted.

.Pour ses avocats, elle ne devait même pas répondre à la convocation de la justice, sachant que celle-ci travaille pour Israël et qu'elle est protégée par son immunité parlementaire. Elle devait exiger la levée de cette immunité avant de répondre. Mais, elle y est allée. La police a fait le banditisme de fouiller son sac pour déclarer y avoir trouver de la drogue. Donc du flagrant délit et donc la garde à vue obligatoire. Ce sont toujours les plans concoctés en Israël et appliqués par les disciples français (francs maçons) sous la supervision du CRIF. Mais comme d'habitude, en pareils cas, la précipitation les pousse toujours à commettre des erreurs. Pour celui-ci, l'euro députée Rima a été convoquée, s'est rendue à la police librement, mais a pris la précaution d'emporter son sac contenant de la drogue. C'est ce qu'il faut retenir. Israël ne fait exécuter ses ordres à aucune personne intelligente, ça ne marcherait pas. Israël utilise donc les plus idiotes des personnes.

L’eurodéputée LFI Rima Hassan est convoquée ce vendredi matin au siège de la police judiciaire parisienne dans le cadre d’une enquête différente des faits pour lesquels elle a été placée jeudi en garde à vue, a appris l’AFP auprès d’une source proche du dossier. Elle était entendue hier pour apologie du terrorisme.
