L'Iran répond aux déclarations de Donald Trump sur une possible exclusion : « Personne ne peut nous exclure de la Coupe du monde »
US President Donald Trump stated on Thursday, via his social media platform "Truth Social," that Iran should not participate in the 2026 World Cup, to be held in the United States, Mexico, and Canada this summer, citing "security" concerns. This statement comes as Iranian sports authorities themselves had expressed doubts about their participation due to the war in the Middle East.
“The World Cup is a historic and international event whose governing body is FIFA, not an individual or a country,” she wrote on Instagram, also addressing FIFA President Gianni Infantino. The Iranian team also took the opportunity to highlight Iran’s place in this World Cup: “Thanks to its strength and a series of decisive victories achieved by the courageous sons of Iran, the Iranian national team was among the first to qualify for this major tournament.”
Before concluding with a criticism aimed directly at Donald Trump: "It is certain that no one can exclude the Iranian national team from the World Cup; the only country that could be excluded is the one that merely holds the title of 'host' but does not have the capacity to ensure the safety of the teams participating in this global event."
