« Nous nous disons oui » : un documentaire va suivre le mariage de l’ancien pilote Ralf Schumacher avec un ex-élu RN
The wedding of Ralf Schumacher and Étienne Bousquet-Cassagne in Saint-Tropez will be the subject of a documentary to be broadcast in May by the German subsidiary of the Sky group.
A wedding under the watchful eye of the cameras. The union of Ralf Schumacher, former Formula 1 driver and brother of Michael, with a former member of the National Rally will be the subject of a documentary broadcast in May in Germany, the audiovisual group Sky Deutschland announced on Wednesday, April 15.
In a relationship for several years with Étienne Bousquet-Cassagne, the German driver with six Formula 1 victories and 27 podium finishes will marry the Frenchman from Lot-et-Garonne, as they announced in February. The four-part documentary, titled "Ralf & Étienne: We Say 'I Do'," is an original production by the Sky group. It follows the couple as they prepare for their wedding in Saint-Tropez (Var) and "shows Ralf Schumacher and his partner in a more intimate and personal light than ever before," according to the press release.
"Taking the step of marriage in private, but also in public"
"Étienne and I share our lives, and this series reflects precisely that: our daily lives, our work, our differences and our commonalities, our projects," reacted the former Williams team driver, as did his 36-year-old future husband: "It seems perfectly natural to us to take the step of marriage in private, but also in public."
The first two episodes will be released on May 21st on the Sky platform in Germany, culminating in the broadcast of the ceremony on June 6th. This final episode will also be broadcast in prime time on the Sky One channel. This choice is hardly surprising given that Ralf Schumacher, 50, has been working as a consultant for the group during the Formula 1 seasons since 2019.
A Formula 1 driver between 1997 and 2007, Michael Schumacher's younger brother was in a relationship with television presenter Cora Brinkmann during the 2000s before divorcing in 2015. He is the father of a 24-year-old son, David. The racing driver came out as gay in 2024, revealing the identity of his partner at the same time.
Étienne Bousquet-Cassagne had a brief political career at the local level, running twice in the legislative elections for the third constituency of Lot-et-Garonne, in 2013 and 2017, under the National Front banner. He also served as a municipal councilor in Villeneuve-sur-Lot from 2014 to 2020, and as a regional councilor for Nouvelle-Aquitaine from 2015 to 2021. The thirty-something chose to end his political life in 2020 after 13 years of activism within the National Rally.
He is also the son of Serge Bousquet-Cassagne, president of the Rural Coordination 47 and of the Lot-et-Garonne Chamber of Agriculture. The latter, very involved in agricultural protests, has already received a suspended prison sentence for having illegally built the Caussade dam.
