Police in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi announced on Friday the arrest of more than 100 people for filming and spreading "misleading information" about the war, as Gulf nations intensify their control over publications related to Iranian attacks.
The arrests involve "109 individuals of various nationalities who filmed locations and incidents (...) during the current events," police stated in a release published on X, referencing the sharing of "misleading information" on social media.
"Such acts are likely to incite hatred and spread rumors among the population," the statement added.
Similar measures have been taken in other Gulf countries, as Iran targets American interests in the region as well as civilian infrastructure, including monuments, oil and gas facilities, airports, and residential areas.
In Qatar, authorities have arrested over 300 people for spreading "misleading information" during the conflict.
Bahrain and Kuwait have also implemented similar measures.
