Tiger Woods a dit aux policiers qu'il était au téléphone "avec Trump" avant son arrestation
Tiger Woods immediately told police he was on the phone "with the president" after his crash and before his arrest last week, according to body camera footage released Thursday.
The video shows the arrival of police at the scene of the accident last Friday in Martin County, Florida, where Tiger Woods hit a truck before ending up, without injury, with the car on its side.
"I'm going to ask you to stay here with us," said an officer.
"Yes, I was on the phone with the president," replied Woods, already out of his vehicle, who then expressed surprise at his arrest for "driving under the influence," for which he pleaded not guilty on Tuesday.
Woods, the golf superstar with 15 major titles, tested negative for alcohol but refused to submit to a urine test, and was in possession of painkillers at the time of his arrest. He was released eight hours later.
Having been involved in several road accidents in recent years, he announced on Tuesday that he was "taking a step back" from golf in order to "undergo treatment".
The video does not allow us to be certain which "president" Woods is referring to.
The golfer is close to Donald Trump, who himself recalled on Friday that the greens star was a "very close friend".
The former world number one has not competed since July 2024. A year ago, he underwent surgery for a ruptured left Achilles tendon, casting a shadow over the rest of his career, which has been plagued by injuries and operations.
