A tragedy was narrowly averted. On Friday, January 23, a police officer was injured after a scooter driver deliberately hit her and dragged her for more than 100 meters in Toulouse, Haute-Garonne, CNEWS learned from a police source.
The incident occurred shortly after 3 p.m. A police patrol noticed a man waiting outside a building. Next to him was a scooter. The officers asked him if he owned the vehicle. He confirmed that he did and stated that he had changed the registration two days prior.
The policewoman grabbed the arm
But his statements did not seem to convince the police, who decided to discreetly monitor him from a distance. However, he managed to evade their vigilance and fled. The officers then decided to search for him.
After spotting the individual, the police officers got out of the vehicle and approached the suspect, ordering him to turn off the ignition, according to our police source.
But after ignoring their request, he began maneuvering his scooter. That's when a police officer decided to intervene to prevent his escape. Suddenly, the man started his vehicle, grabbing the officer and accelerating, dragging her along the ground for 123 meters.
The man eventually released the policewoman, who fell, hitting her head on the ground. She was treated by paramedics and taken to the emergency room. The man fled the scene and is still at large.
