C. Dieng, aged 19, was sentenced to one month in prison for uttering insults and death threats against his paternal aunt, K. Dieng.

According to the facts presented in court, the young man returned from a stay in Tambacounda with a sudden and inexplicable hatred towards his paternal aunt. Before the judges, he explained this hostility by citing the assertion of his marabout: that his aunt had "cast a spell on him so that he wouldn't work and wouldn't succeed in life."

Faced with the accusations, C. Dieng denied any threats. "I didn't threaten her. She's just trying to pin motives on me," he calmly stated.

Kiné Dieng, the complainant, told a completely different story. "I am his father's sister. He found me drawing water, and he started insulting and threatening me. I filed a complaint." She explained that, despite the intervention of the police, the accused returned the following Sunday to insult her again, causing her to "fall into a trance."

The complainant stated that her nephew called her a cannibal and accused her of practicing the occult (calling her a "deum"). These extremely hurtful remarks deeply shocked the victim. The presiding judge addressed the young man: "If your aunt is a deum, then your father is a deum too. Don't you know that star anise is like a father?"

A sister of the accused, called as a witness, confirmed the verbal abuse, stating that "He said very nasty things to her. My aunt went into a trance."

At the end of the hearing, the young defendant C. Dieng was sentenced to one month of imprisonment.
