Tried on Tuesday, February 24, 2026, by the criminal chamber of the Thiès High Court for rape and abduction of a minor, student A. Sy was acquitted due to reasonable doubt. He was accused by A. Lo, a girl who was 14 years old at the time of the events, which occurred in 2023.
In court, the defendant denied the accusations and stated that he knew the young girl because they live in the same neighborhood.
The victim, for her part, maintained her statements in court. She explained that the accused had approached her in front of her home before taking her to an unfinished building to have sex with her.
The girl's father stated that a neighbor had seen the accused dropping his daughter off at a local shop before alerting her mother. When questioned, she revealed that she had been raped by A. Sy.
The plaintiff claimed 10 million CFA francs in damages.
The public prosecutor, who requested the acquittal of the defendant on the charge of rape, asked that he be sentenced to three years in prison for abduction of a minor.
