This Tuesday, a morals case held the criminal division of the Thiès High Court in suspense. The cold technician, AG, 28, was tried for repeated rape of RC, his uncle's wife. This was in 2022, in Thiès.

Originally, 26-year-old R.C. was at odds with her husband. To find peace with her husband and consolidate her marriage, she sought the help of AG, her husband's nephew. He put her in touch with a witch doctor named Aliou Sérère. But AG had an agenda.

He thus made the woman believe that in order to regain peace in her home, the marabout demanded that she have sexual relations with a man other than her husband, in order to use the sperm to perform the mystical ritual. And to better reassure his aunt, he made her understand that he had performed this same ritual with sisters AGG and AMG who seemed to have peace in their home.

That said, they met at night in AG's room for the first time. The young man then collected the sperm on a piece under the pretext of giving it to the marabout Aliou Sérère as agreed.

Some time later, he returned to the woman to demand a second sexual encounter. The woman refused before giving in when AG told her that it was the marabout who had told her to have more sex since the amount of sperm he received was not enough. The two then slept together for a second time and then a third time, some time later.

The fourth time, the woman categorically refused. To subdue her, AG threatened to share the intimate images of the woman he allegedly possessed. But RC stood his ground.

His attempts on a marabout's wife  

Weary of the struggle, AG turned to another target: the wife of a well-known marabout in Thiès. The accused used the same tactic to sleep with this woman who lived in Dakar. To do this, AG waited until the marabout was out of the house. But his plan was foiled by the marabout, who caught him nearly naked in the marital bedroom, waiting for the woman who had allegedly trapped this sexual predator.

The marabout confiscated his clothes, bag, and phone, and let him leave in his underwear. When the affair broke, Mrs. RC took the opportunity to file a rape complaint against AG. The accused was later arrested and placed in custody.

At the bar of the criminal division of the Thiès High Court, AG attempted to deny the facts. He stated that it was his uncle's wife who met him in his room to offer him sex in exchange for money. He admitted to sleeping with her three times.

Regarding the marabout's wife, AG also tried to dispute the facts. He stated that the marabout had found him in his living room, well-dressed, and not in their marital bedroom.

The marabout's testimonies in court

As a witness in this case, the marabout testified before the court that he had surprised the defendant almost naked in his marital bedroom. "AG was my friend. He got my wife's number from a WhatsApp group we shared. Then, he sent her audio messages to suggest sexual rituals to strengthen her marriage. And when my wife played me these audios, I began to suspect him. On the day of the incident, he called me on the phone to ask where I was. I told him I was on my way to the regional hospital in Thiès. Some time later, I left Thiès to return to Dakar. When I arrived home, I found AG in our marital bedroom. He had undressed and was left with only his underwear. I scolded him and then let him leave without his clothes, his bag, and his cell phone. I kept these items for days before he sent his friend to retrieve them," the marabout testified.

And for the public prosecutor, AG is guilty of raping his uncle's wife. He added that if it hadn't been for the vigilance of the marabout's wife, he would have done the same to her. The prosecutor then requested 15 years of criminal imprisonment for the defendant.
