CHAMBRE CRIMINELLE DE THIÈS : 15 ans requis contre le prévenu A. Bâ, son acolyte M. Bâ lynché à mort
The young man A. Bâ is being tried this Wednesday, December 24, 2025, by the criminal chamber of the Thiès High Court. He is being prosecuted for armed robbery committed at night. These events took place in March 2021 in Keur Madaro (Thiès).
According to reports, a gang of criminals traveled to Keur Madaro at night with the intention of robbing the merchant P. Guèye. The assailants arrived in a vehicle. Once in the village, two of them went to commit the crime while the others waited on the road. These two individuals, armed with a homemade rifle and a machete, scaled the wall of P. Guèye's house and knocked on his door. When he opened it, they took him by surprise and demanded that he hand over the money he claimed to have kept in his room.
The shopkeeper, P. Guèye, refused to give in and then fought violently with them before neighbors came to his aid. They brutally beat the assailants. Seriously injured, the latter were taken to the hospital for treatment. One, identified as M. Bâ, eventually succumbed to his injuries. The other, A. Bâ, received treatment before being handed over to the gendarmerie for questioning.
A. Bâ was subsequently charged with armed robbery committed at night and then remanded in custody. He is being tried this Tuesday, December 24, by the criminal chamber of the Thiès High Court.
In court, the defendant denied the accusations. He stated that he had met the deceased Mr. Bâ during their first prison term. He added that on the day of the incident, he had gone to meet Mr. Bâ in Keur Madaro so they could travel together to a religious event in Thiès. He explained that it was under these circumstances that he was attacked and beaten by a group of people. He emphasized that he was not there to steal.
Called as a witness, the village chief of Madaro, Mr. Niang, stated that the gendarmerie informed him of the incident late at night. He added that when he went to the scene, he saw two wounded men on the ground, including A. Bâ and M. Bâ. He testified that the merchant P. Guèye had told him that two heavily armed individuals had broken into his home to steal his money.
The public prosecutor found the defendant A. Bâ guilty of the charges and requested a 15-year prison sentence.
