USA: Michelle Obama explains why she is 'so happy' not to have had a son with Barack

 

It's common knowledge that Michelle and Barack Obama only have two daughters, Malia and Sasha. The former presidential couple didn't want to expand their family with a boy.

In a recent episode of her podcast "IMO," which she co-hosts with her brother Craig Robinson, the former first lady revealed that she was "so glad" she didn't have a son, "because he would have been a Barack Obama."

"I would have had compassion for him."

Show guest Angie Martinez said, "Oh my, a baby Barack? That would have been amazing!"

Michelle quipped, "No, I would have felt sorry for him."

Indeed, Barack Obama's wife believes that if she had a son, he would have "big shoes to fill," meaning he would have had to make a lot of effort to live up to his father's standards. A rather difficult undertaking.

The former First Lady also gave some advice to mothers who have sons.

“People say that mothers raise their daughters and love their sons, but I would say love your son but raise him too. Raise him to be as strong as you want him to be. Teach him how to handle a traffic stop, but also how to communicate in a relationship and be a good father. How to be a compassionate neighbor and a citizen who votes. Someone who pays attention and cares about something outside of himself,” said Michelle Obama.
