Referred to the High Court of Justice on charges of embezzlement of public funds, criminal conspiracy, and money laundering, Moussa Bocar Thiam has assembled his defense. The newspaper Les Échos reports that the Minister of Communication, Telecommunications, and Digital Affairs at the time of the alleged offenses, under President Macky Sall, chose Pape Laïty Ndiaye, a former president of the bar association, and Baboucar Cissé. "Two skilled procedural lawyers; experts in matters of embezzlement of public funds," the newspaper commented.
Moussa Bocar Thiam was scheduled to appear before the High Court of Justice on Wednesday for his first hearing. However, the hearing did not take place, as the former minister was out of the country.
