Direction de la Fonction publique : dix ordi portables volés, les explications douteuses des agents pris la main dans le sac
Two employees of the Directorate General of the Civil Service were brought before the prosecutor's office on Wednesday for theft committed while on duty. They are S. Diop and M. Diop, who work in the administrative and financial department of the directorate. They were arrested following a complaint filed by the coordinator of the Program to Support the Modernization of the Administration regarding the disappearance of ten brand-new laptops.
The machines were stored in a cabinet. But when the Civil Service Directorate moved to Point E, they were no longer there. "Following a general search of the offices, four [of the ten] missing computers were found in Mr. Diop's office and three others in S. Diop's," reports Libération, which broke the story in its Thursday edition.
When questioned by the Urban Security (SU), which is handling the case, "the two accused claimed that they had the computers in order to return them later. An argument that did not convince the investigators, especially since they never took the initiative to report them beforehand."
