Tribunal des flagrants délits de Dakar — Grand-Yoff
What was meant to be a discreet encounter turned into a courtroom drama at the Dakar Summary Offenses Court. Ms. Diallo, a 40-year-old sex worker known as Amina, and Mr. Diallo, a 35-year-old delivery driver, both face charges of assault and battery. Additionally, the woman is accused of endangering lives and operating without a valid health certificate. The two defendants clashed violently following a sexual transaction gone wrong.
According to the prosecution, the incident occurred in Grand-Yoff on the night of April 17-18, 2026. The meeting was arranged via phone after initial contact on social media. Ms. Diallo, a 39-year-old divorcee and mother of four, claims the agreed rate was 30,000 CFA francs (approx. $50). After the act at the client's home in Grand-Yoff, he allegedly handed her only 10,000 CFA, eventually increasing it to 20,000 CFA after she made a scene.
This version was contested by Mr. Diallo, the 35-year-old delivery driver. He maintains they initially agreed on 10,000 CFA plus 3,000 CFA for transportation. He claims he paid 20,000 CFA total just to avoid scandal, not wanting his neighbors to find out.
The matter might have ended there. But after the sex worker left, he pursued her taxi. The woman alleges the client chased her down, forcibly pulled her from the vehicle, and beat her. In retaliation, she admits throwing a stone at his face. The man counters that he was heading to the police station to file a complaint when she allegedly exited the vehicle and attacked him first.
In court, inconsistencies persisted, particularly regarding the actual agreed amount—with claims ranging from 10,000, 20,000, to even 70,000 CFA francs according to various statements.
Also charged for lacking a health certificate and endangering lives, Ms. Diallo received support from her lawyers, Michel Ndong and Ibamar Diop, who pleaded for leniency.
The client, without legal representation, attempted to justify his actions: "I ask for forgiveness. I hadn't had sexual relations for nine months. It was my first time with a prostitute," he said. He alleged that after hosting her at his home, she blackmailed him, demanding 70,000 CFA. The woman denied this, stating the rate was 30,000 CFA plus 5,000 for transport. Regarding civil damages, her lawyer sought one million CFA francs.
The prosecution demanded full application of the law. Ultimately, the court sentenced both defendants to 3 months suspended prison sentences and fines of 50,000 CFA each. In the civil suit, the judge awarded 100,000 CFA in damages to Ms. Diallo, while noting the man made no financial claims.
