Haute Cour de justice : deux autres anciens ministres de Macky Sall visés
The net is closing in on former dignitaries of Macky Sall's regime. Meeting this Tuesday, the Bureau of the National Assembly officially launched the impeachment proceedings against two former ministers: Moussa Bocar Thiam and Abdoulaye Diouf Sarr, reports L'Observateur.
The former Minister of Communication is implicated in the case concerning the development of the Digital Technology Park, renamed "Senegal Connect Park." This case has already led to the imprisonment of some of his former collaborators.
According to the former Minister of Health, the accusation is based on the 2022 report from the Court of Auditors concerning the management of funds allocated to the Covid-19 response. This same report had already led to the indictment of four other ministers (Mansour Faye, Aïssatou Sophie Gladima, Moustapha Diop and Salimata Diop) last May, the same source explains.
At the request of the Minister of Justice, Yassine Fall, the Conference of Presidents has set the parliamentary timetable, reports the daily newspaper of the Future Media Group. The draft impeachment will be examined by a technical committee on February 19, before a plenary session scheduled for February 23, during which members of parliament will decide whether to bring the case before the High Court of Justice, which will be established in December 2024.
