Newly appointed Minister of the Interior and Public Security, Mouhammadou Makhtar Cissé outlined the principles that will guide his actions at the head of this strategic department.
Succeeding General Jean-Baptiste Tine, the new minister emphasized the need for the exercise of authority to be in accordance with the laws of the Republic. He specifically assured that no instructions contrary to the legal framework would be given to the defense and security forces. "I would never, ever, ever ask the defense and security forces to do what the law does not allow them to do. Nor would I tolerate the authority of the State being misused to serve private interests," he declared.
Through this message, Mouhammadou Makhtar Cissé intends to place his mandate under the banner of respect for the rule of law and the protection of republican institutions.
The minister also detailed his department's priorities: ensuring the safety of the population, guaranteeing public freedoms, ensuring respect for the law, preserving the authority of the State and strengthening the effectiveness of the security services.
A roadmap that aims to be both firm on principles and focused on improving public safety for the benefit of citizens.
