La justice française partiellement favorable à l’extradition : L’avocat de Madiambal Diagne peste !
The Versailles Court of Appeal has issued its ruling in the Madiambal Diagne case. The investigating chamber issued a partially favorable opinion regarding the extradition of the head of Groupe Avenir Communication. "This means that it is neither entirely in favor of extradition, nor entirely against it. For us, it's a partial victory, because it means that our request for an increase was partially granted," stated Vincent Brengarth, Mr. Diagne's lawyer.
The lawyer, however, did not hide his dissatisfaction. He and his client had expected the investigating chamber to issue an opinion entirely unfavorable to the extradition. They have decided to appeal to the Court of Cassation against the investigating chamber's ruling. "It will now be up to the Court of Cassation to rule on the validity of the opinion that was issued," stated Mr. Brengarth.
An opinion that the lawyer does not understand at all: "We are questioning the consistency of this opinion today. What does it mean, an opinion that partially supports extradition? Does that mean that half is permitted and half is not? That is to say, that half of Mr. Diagne will remain in France and the other half in Senegal? It truly raises questions," the lawyer fumes.
