Libération sous caution, détention, extradition : Le sort de Madiambal Diagne entre les mains de...
Senegalese journalist and media boss Madiambal Diagne, arrested in France on an international arrest warrant, is currently under provisional arrest.
According to information from Jeune Afrique, he is to be brought before the Versailles public prosecutor's office. It will then be up to the judge of liberties and detention (JLD) to decide on his immediate fate: either remand in custody or release on bail. This decision will precede the substantive examination of the extradition request submitted by the Senegalese courts, which is expected to be examined later by the Versailles Court of Appeal.
The procedure targeting Madiambal Diagne originates from a report by the National Financial Information Processing Unit (Centif) in Senegal.
This report details suspicious transactions involving several billion CFA francs between the accounts of SCI Pharaon, a civil real estate company founded by the journalist, and those of the French company Ellipse Projects.
Ellipse Projects specializes in hospital construction in Africa and was awarded a large construction project in Senegal, particularly in the health and justice sectors, under the presidency of Macky Sall.
The role attributed to SCI Pharaon in this case has already led to the indictment and placement in custody of the journalist's wife and two sons, who were involved in the company's activities.
