Lourdes peines pour les 18 supporters sénégalais au Maroc : Madiambal Diagne propose une demande de grâce et brandit l’option du rappel d’ambassadeur
In the wake of the harsh sentences handed down by Moroccan courts against 18 Senegalese football supporters, Madiambal Diagne's reaction was swift. In a message posted on the social network X, the journalist and media owner called on Senegalese authorities to launch a strong diplomatic initiative with Morocco.
According to him, President Bassirou Diomaye Faye should send "an emissary bearing a message" to King Mohammed VI to request a royal pardon for the convicted supporters. "It seems wise to send an emissary bearing a message from President Faye to the King of Morocco," he wrote, considering such a step to be standard diplomatic practice between partner states.
In his post, Madiambal Diagne goes further. He argues that a refusal of clemency would constitute an exceptional situation that would force Senegal to adopt a firmer stance. "If, by some extraordinary circumstance, the king were to refuse clemency to the convicted supporters, Senegal would have no choice but to recall its ambassador from Rabat. We must demand respect!" he asserts.
