Mame Mbaye Niang poursuit Sonko pour "mutation frauduleuse" et réclame 500 millions !
A new legal battle has erupted between Mame Mbaye Kan Niang and Ousmane Sonko. The former minister has filed a civil suit with the High Court of Dakar, seeking to overturn a transfer of ownership he alleges is fraudulent, concerning a property located in the Keur Gorgui neighborhood. The case, which was heard on April 9, 2026, has been adjourned until April 22 at the request of advisors to Prime Minister Ousmane Sonko.
In his summons filed by Mr. Baboucar Cissé, Mame Mbaye Niang outlined the defamation case between himself and Ousmane Sonko. He stated that, by a judgment dated March 30, 2023, largely upheld by the Court of Appeal and then the Supreme Court, Ousmane Sonko was ordered to pay 200 million CFA francs in damages for defamation and public insults. According to the plaintiff, despite the finality of this judgment, the political leader has undertaken maneuvers to evade the execution of this court decision. He accuses Sonko of having transferred the leasehold rights to a plot of land registered under land title number 530/GR, measuring 264 square meters, which was initially registered in his name.
According to the documents submitted to the file, this transfer, which took place in May 2023, transferred ownership of the property to several members of Ousmane Sonko's family. Mame Mbaye Niang considers this act to be a deliberate strategy to orchestrate insolvency and shield the property from payment of the court-ordered debt.
He also claims that Ousmane Sonko himself admitted to carrying out this transfer to avoid paying the sentence, a statement which was publicly repeated by his lawyers.
In his petition, Mr. Baboucar Cissé cited Articles 205 and 206 of the Code of Civil and Commercial Obligations, concerning the Paulian action, which allows a creditor to have acts performed in fraud of their rights annulled. He argues that the conditions for this action are met, as the debt is, in his view, certain, liquid, and due.
He goes further by implicating the Land Registrar of Grand-Dakar, whom he suspects of complicity in carrying out this change.
What Mame Mbaye Niang is asking for
In his requests, the lawyer asks the court for: a declaration of unenforceability of the disputed transfer, its outright cancellation, the re-registration of the property in the name of Ousmane Sonko under penalty of 10 million FCFA per day of delay, as well as the joint and several judgment against the defendants to pay him 500 million FCFA in damages.
The case was called for the first time on January 19, 2026.
