Mbour : son copain se suicide après leur rupture, une jeune femme envoyée en prison
S. Bâ was tried this Tuesday in the Mbour criminal court for failing to assist a person in danger. She is suspected of being involved in the death of her ex-boyfriend, CT Baldé. He committed suicide moments after the young woman dumped him.
The breakup occurred on Friday, June 26, 2020, according to L'Observateur, which attended the trial of S. Bâ, who was initially remanded in custody at Mbour prison before being granted provisional release a few months later. According to the account published by the newspaper of the Groupe Futurs Médias, on that day CT Baldé contacted his girlfriend and invited her to his sister's house in Warang.
She arrives at the meeting. No sooner have the two lovers begun their conversation than S. Bâ announces to his host his decision to break up with him. "CT Baldé categorically refuses and even resorts to threats," notes the daily newspaper of the Future Media Group.
S. Bâ remained unmoved. She got up and took her leave. She returned to Mbour before going to Kolda the same day. On June 29, the terrible news arrived: "She was contacted by phone by a brother of CT Baldé who informed her of his death," the newspaper recounts.
S. Bâ was later arrested and remanded in custody at Mbour prison for failing to assist a person in danger. He was granted provisional release pending his trial.
In court, according to L'Observateur, the young woman appeared calm. She denied any involvement in the suicide of her ex-boyfriend, of whom she spoke very highly. "CT Baldé had personal problems, but he was devout and decent. Our relationship had no issues," she stated, as reported by the newspaper. The accused swore she didn't know why Baldé chose to take his own life.
The same story was told by H. Baldé, the victim's sister, who came to testify. The tragedy occurred in her home. She indicated that she was aware of the relationship between her brother and S. Bâ, but admitted that she did not approve of it.
"In his indictment, the public prosecutor requested the application of the law. The verdict is scheduled for July 6, 2026," concludes L'Observateur.
