Menaces contre la famille du Chef de l’Etat : Babacar Ndiaye de Pastef condamné
Shopkeeper Babacar Ndiaye, 29, was sentenced on Tuesday by the Dakar Magistrates' Court to two months in prison. He must also pay a fine of 50,000 CFA francs. The defendant was found guilty of making death threats against the family of the President of the Republic and insulting the head of state.

According to the facts, on March 9, 2026, Babacar Ndiaye, described as an activist with the Pastef party, broadcast a live video on the social media platform TikTok. During this broadcast, he accused President Bassirou Diomaye Faye of betraying Ousmane Sonko. He specifically stated that if Pastef activists were arrested, imprisoned, or killed, reprisals would be carried out against the President's family. These remarks were deemed offensive, outrageous, and threatening toward the President of the Republic and his family. On the instructions of the public prosecutor, Babacar Ndiaye was arrested on March 26 by the Research Section, before being brought before the prosecutor's office and then remanded in custody.
In court, the defendant admitted to the charges against him. He apologized, stating that he was intoxicated at the time of his live broadcast. The public prosecutor had requested a six-month prison sentence. The defense, represented by Iba Mar Diop, indicated that his client had learned his lesson. The lawyer condemned the defendant's behavior while pleading for leniency from the court.
