The president of the Forum of the Justiciable, Babacar Ba, reacted to the opening of the investigation into the circumstances of the death of student Abdoulaye Ba, which occurred following the clashes at Cheikh Anta Diop University of Dakar (UCAD).
"Mr. Public Prosecutor, in order to guarantee the greatest impartiality and neutrality, it is desirable that the investigation into the circumstances of the death of student Abdoulaye Ba be entrusted to the national gendarmerie rather than to the police who intervened on the scene," he wrote on X, this Saturday, February 14, after the press release from the prosecutor's office.
After announcing the opening of an investigation into the death of Abdoulaye Ba, a second-year medical student at Cheikh Anta Diop University (UCAD), on February 9, Prosecutor Ibrahima Ndoye stated that the Urban Security Division and the Criminal Investigation Division (DIC) have been assigned to the case. This is to "establish the causes and circumstances of the death and determine responsibility." However, he added, "at this stage, the available evidence does not corroborate the rumors alleging physical violence against the victim."
