Propos injurieux envers l’opposition : Lamignou Darou et Boy Dakar de Pastef risquent 6 mois ferme

Pastef party activists Mandoumbé Diop, alias "Lamignou Darou," 35, a trader living in Yoff, and Serigne Mbaye Diagne, alias "Boy Dakar," 35, a trader living in Thiaroye, appeared before the Dakar flagrante delicto court on Wednesday. They are being prosecuted for insulting the opposition.

The events date back to October 27, 2025, following the dissemination of viral videos made via the TikTok accounts "Lamignou Darou 1912" and "Dakar Bisnes." The sequence contained remarks deemed contrary to public morality. These statements led the public prosecutor to instruct the Special Cybersecurity Division, which, after investigation, arrested the two men.

In his video, Lamignou Darou violently attacked opponents demonstrating for the release of detainees arrested as part of the accountability process. He allegedly called the protesters "prostitutes" and threatened to "castrate the men" who took part in the march.

It was in this context that the Pastef activist was arrested for speeches contrary to public decency, insults through a computer system and threats of castration of an ethnic group.

In court, Lamignou Darou admitted the facts: "I made the video because people had organized a demonstration and made disrespectful remarks towards Prime Minister Ousmane Sonko, our leader. As I cannot bear people insulting Ousmane Sonko, I reacted in anger. I have an inconsiderate love for him," he declared.

When questioned about his comments on castration, he clarified: "Indeed, I did talk about castration. Because if I were a member of parliament, I would propose a law of this kind to punish thieves of public funds," he retorted.

His co-defendant, Boy Dakar, also admitted the facts, explaining that he acted in response to the insults leveled against their leader. He expressed his regret.

In his submissions, the public prosecutor considered that the two defendants deserved severe sentences, in order to send a strong message to all those who make insulting remarks on social media. He requested a six-month prison sentence.

Attorney Ousseynou Ngom, for the defense, asked the court not to follow the prosecution's repressive logic. Attorney Famara Faty called for a benevolent application of criminal law, Attorney Takha Cissé pleaded the excuse of provocation, while Attorney Arona Bass emphasized that the two cases deserved to be handled separately. Finally, their colleague Mamadou Guèye asked the court for clemency.

Deliberated on October 20, 2025.
