SNHLM : Bassirou Kébé dénonce des acquisitions illégales de biens et saisit la justice
The Director General of the National Low-Rent Housing Company (SNHLM), Bassirou Kébé, revealed that "SNHLM agents have acquired property illegally," suggesting the existence of an organized group.
At a press conference on Thursday, March 26, 2026, Mr. Kébé stated that "a group has organized itself within the company to carry out these fraudulent acquisitions, sometimes registering the names of their relatives in order to acquire houses," adding that "children of 7 or 10 years old appear as owners of houses on the documents."
According to him, these practices involve agents "occupying advantageous positions, often close to the CEOs." He also stated that "some deals don't even go through the board of directors and are signed directly."
The outgoing manager stated that he had consulted lawyers, who described the actions as "fraud and misuse of company assets." "Complaints have been filed, and they will be the responsibility of the new management," he indicated.
Furthermore, in addition to the standard handover document, a special report was prepared. "We wanted to create a special report that we will submit to the new director general so he can observe the situation," he explained, asserting that "these employees did everything they could to prevent this special report from being produced."
Bassirou Kébé also stated that he had "faced a corrupt system that relied on undue advantages."
At the same time, he defended his management by stating that he had "paid all the benefits deserved" as well as "all the legal bonuses", and had granted "salary increases despite a difficult cash flow situation".
In this regard, Mr. Kébé recommends the intervention of state oversight bodies. "I suggest that the state send oversight bodies such as the General State Inspectorate (IGE) to the SNHLM," he concluded.
These statements come on the eve of the handover ceremony between Bassirou Kébé and Abdourahmane Dabo at the head of the General Directorate of SNHLM scheduled for this Friday, March 27, 2026.
