THIÈS : Le guérisseur A. Sy condamné à 3 ans ferme pour escroquerie et charlatanisme
Thirty-four-year-old healer A. Sy was sentenced to three years in prison and ordered to pay 30 million CFA francs in damages to the plaintiff, S. Seck. A resident of the Mbour 3 neighborhood in Thiès, he was tried on December 26, 2025, by the Thiès court for flagrant offenses on charges of fraud and quackery.
The plaintiff, businesswoman S. Seck, stated that the convicted man had bewitched her to swindle her out of 26 million FCFA. During the proceedings, the accused, A. Sy, denied the charges. He claimed to have received 17 million FCFA from the plaintiff, while maintaining that he had spent this amount on alms to support her business and provide medical care for her sick children.
The public prosecutor, deeming the defendant guilty, had requested a two-year prison sentence. The court went beyond this request, handing down a three-year sentence.
