Tribunal de Thiès — menaces de mort par message
A family dispute has landed Mr. Ndiaye in court on serious charges involving death threats and illegal firearm possession. The defendant is being prosecuted for threatening to kill his uncle, N. Ndiaye.
The incident stemmed from the victim's repeated public pleas for his nephew to stop consuming cannabis.
According to the investigation, Mr. Ndiaye was in possession of a pistol he claims to have found at the Mbeukanté market in Thiès. He subsequently sent a threatening message to his uncle, written in Wolof: « Lingay def soko bayiwoul dinala watiè » (If you don't stop, I will eliminate you).
In court, the defendant admitted to making the threats but clarified he had no intention of carrying them out. "I made these threats without any intention of executing them. I apologize to him," he stated.
For his part, the plaintiff explained he acted out of familial concern. "I was advising him because he is my nephew. But he sent me this threatening message," said N. Ndiaye, who ultimately accepted the defendant's apology.
The public prosecutor, however, has called for the full application of the law.
The case has been taken under advisement.
